July: In the heat of friendship
Our construction activities slowed down somewhat during June and July, as it has been a little bit hot... but we've kept going, undeterred!
A number of amazing friends came to spend an active holiday with us this past month in Miramon. Starting with Val, Vincent and Jérémy, whose enthusiasm and good humour meant we finished our retaining walls in the blink of an eye, as well as laying the drainage at the foot of the wall… with plenty of wheelbarrow loads of gravel and soil.
Then, a few days later, we were joined by an international (British-French-Chinese) team of committed builders, comprising Joséphine, Treetree, Joe, Marty, Xiangdong, Yimin, and Zaoyi the explorer – who spent the very first night of her life in a tent under the oak trees of Miramon! We really got stuck in again, making good progress on laying the support beams for our wooden slab and building our storeroom and composting area. Not to mention treating ourselves every day to delicious Chinese dishes cooked over the wood fire...
What on earth will the August volunteers get up to?!
